Software Resume

Operating Systems/Computer Platforms

I have worked with Apple Macintosh and PC computers for twenty six years. I am comfortable moving between platforms and as a technologist, find it difficult to work with just one. Most of my creative work has been done on Macintosh to date. I have worked with the following OSs:

Productivity/Multimedia Tools

Microsoft Office: I have had considerable experience working with and teaching the tools of Microsoft Office over the past fourteen years. I have taught word processing, spread sheet and PowerPoint skills to Middle School students and Teacher Education Students at several universities. While at NKU, I used Microsoft Publisher in introductory technology courses for teacher education students and with faculty (training/support for the development of educational materials for online courses).

Appleworks/iWork: I have used these products to teach similar skills to Middle Grades students. I consider myself fluent in Pages, Keynote and Numbers and use them extensively for personal productivity.

OpenOffice: I have used this Open Source equivalent to MSOffice to teach undergraduate students in an introductory technology course that was taught off campus. Since many students could not afford to purchase software like MSOffice, we found this alternative an excellent substitute. I continue to use OpenOffice for my own personal productivity, and to grade work created with this program by students.

Adobe Pagemaker: My experience with Pagemaker goes back nearly ten years when I was a site technology coordinator in the Las Vegas School system. I used this program extensively to produce print-ready material for school administrators and for school year books. I frequently provided support for the program to different schools in the area. I have also used Pagemaker to create newsletters for a local R/C flying club I started in Las Vegas in 1993.

FileMakerPro/FileMakerServer: I have been using Filemaker since version 1.0. I have used this program to create financial and informational databases for work (Las Vegas - where I was a site technology coordinator), and for personal productivity. FileMaker was used as the database structure for TheDigitalClassroom.com (TDC) from 1995-2003. This versatile program was the engine behind the development of TDC as a Learning Management System (LMS). My most recent use of Filemaker was as the database structure behind ePortfolio.

I have taught FileMaker in multimedia development courses at several universities.

Adobe CS4: I have used this suite of tools from Adobe for ten years. I started with Dreamweaver and gradually migrated over to using all of the tools in the family (Photoshop, Flash, Fireworks, Flex, Contribute, and Soundbooth). I have taught Dreamweaver in educational technology courses and have frequently added useful amounts of Photoshop and Fireworks as well. I have successfully used CS4 to design and develop websites as a part of my business, SiteTEC Website Technologies. I currently maintain eight websites using Dreamweaver. Contribute and Soundbooth are used primarily for personal productivity.

I am currently learning Flex.

Adobe Premier: I have used Adobe Premier to create a promotional movie for the opening of a new technology-rich school in Las Vegas. I now use iMovieHD and iDVD on the Macintosh to produce all instructional and non-instructional movies. Other tools I use to support video creation include: Adobe Media Converter, Amadeus, Desktop Curtain, iPhoto and iDive.

Omnipage: I frequently use OmniPage for personal productivity. I teach how to convert scanned documents for use with word processors to teacher education students.

OmniGraffle/Inspiration: These are my two favorite graphic organizer tools. I use OmniGraffle primarily for creating instructional materials. Inspiration is a staple tool that I teach to teacher education students when teaching about visual learning techniques for the classroom.
