strategies for learning and integrating technology
The Academy for Online Course Development has been especially designed to support faculty who want to develop an online course or want to improve an existing online course.
The Academy is offered twice during the academic year - once in the Summer and again in the Spring and includes a variety of instructional formats, hands-on opportunities, training on our current Learning Management System (LMS), and opportunities to consult with CID staff in the development of your course.
The Academy program includes topics such as online teaching methods, technology strategies for engaging students, online course management techniques, creating online documents (syllabus and support materials), new technologies for facilitating communication and interaction in an online course, and many other topics crucial to understanding effective online teaching.
The Academy instructor will model the strategies that instructors may eventually use in their own online courses. Not only will participants learn the skills and strategies necessary for effective online teaching, they will also get first-hand experience communicating within the LMS environment they will be using to teach their own online courses.
Applications to the Summer Academy are accepted each year from May 1 to May 15.
Applciations to the Spring Academy are accepted each year from December 1 - January 15.
